Aadhaar-Linking Deadlines: Ensure You Link Your Aadhar Card

Deadline for linking Aadhaar with PAN is December 31, 2017
The government has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar cards with bank accounts, permanent account numbers (PAN), income tax return (ITR), social security schemes and even mobile phones. If one does not have the 12-digit Unique Identification Number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India, he will have to now get it made in order to avail all these facilities. In fact, the government recently extended the deadline for obtaining Aadhaar for availing government schemes and subsidies by three months to December 31. The extension is, however, only for those who are yet to apply for Aadhaar, an order issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said. As many as 135 schemes (of 35 ministries) including the free cooking gas (LPG) to poor women, kerosene and fertilizer subsidy, targeted public distribution system and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) will be covered by the extension.
Be it linking of Aadhaar card with PAN, mobile SIM cards or bank accounts, there are different deadlines specified in each case. Read Further:
Last day for linking Aadhaar with mobile SIMs is February 6, 2018
Supreme Court decides to stop sim cards running on fake identities, now it is mandatory to link aadhaar card with mobile number i.e SIM Card through bio-metric verification to keep it active. If you don’t link your sim card with your Aadhar card then your number is going to disconnected very soon. So if you don’t want to loose your mobile number then make sure that you link your sim [Airtel, Idea, Vodafone Any] with Aadhar before last date.
In case, you have purchased sim card with biometric verification then you don’t have to go through this verification process. The linking process is very simple and free of cost and can be done at any retailer shop. Also you don’t have to give your id card photocopy or photographs to retailer as this process is based on biometric verification which gets completed online so all you need a aadhaar card, sim card along with owner of aadhaar card as this process includes biometric verification so you will have to verify your fingerprints at retailer shop so your linkage can be authenticated. Read Further:

Plea to review hike in guideline value of lands in Melvisharam

Plea to review hike in guideline value of lands in Melvisharam
The Melvisharam Town Uplift Committee has appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to reconsider the steep hike in the guideline value of lands in Melvisharam town.

Muthu Rafeeque Ahmed, Secretary of the committee, said in a release that the public of Melvisharam have been affected by the steep hike in the guideline value of land in Melvisharam, effected by the government through an order. While the government order stated that the guideline value of lands has been increased by 40% to 60% with effect from April 1, in effect, the guideline value of land at Melvisharam town has been increased by 400% to 700%, which is contradictory to the claim made in the government order.

Citing examples of the hike, the secretary pointed out that the guideline value of land in Abdul Hakeem Road (Kathivadi Road), which was Rs.150 per square foot till March 31, has been increased to Rs.1,200 per square foot with effect from April 1, and this amounted to a 700% hike.

“We are unable to understand why such an abnormal burden has been imposed on the public of Melvisharam town alone”, said Mr. Ahmed, and appealed to the State government to reconsider the steep hike in the guideline value of lands in the town.

Melvisharam - Chennai Bus Diverted

Today, there was a problem in 7.40 am Visharam – Chennai bus and the bus conductor told me that here after the bus instead of coming to Visharam through by-pass from Arcot Bus Depot will go first to the Arcot Bus Stand and load passengers and will come to Visharam, all the way through the main road and will bound to Chennai from Visharam by-pass. It means that no Visharam passengers will be getting bus seats as it will be loaded in Arcot Bus Stand itself.

It is not clear about the 4.10 am and 6.20 am Visharam – Chennai buses. Will this buses also come loaded with passengers from Arcot and head to Chennai through Visharam? Everybody knows that it was a big effort to get the bus services from Visharam and so far, the Government has done little service to our town and now its officers are diverting that small government services from us.

People of Visharam, please, do something to stop diversion of this buses from its regular routes. If it is done, definitely we will be losing our grounds of what so far offered through the government.

Aadhaar: How to get your unique ID from govt of India

India's ambitious Unique ID project dubbed "Aadhaar", which aims to give every Indian citizen a unique number mapped to biometrics, was launched on Wednesday in the Nadurbar district of Maharashtra. The Technoholik.com team got a sneak peek at the UIDAI (Unique ID Authority of India) tech centre in Bangalore, to tell you everything you need to know about the enrolment process.

The setup
The enrollment officer (EO) sits at right angles to you and enters data into a laptop. The insight of the Aadhaar team here is that the person getting enrolled must see what is being entered. Thus there's a monitor in front of you, which mirrors the enrolment officer's screen so that you can point out spelling mistakes or other errors. If the person getting enrolled is illiterate, he or she can nominate someone to accompany and verify. There's a small laser printer behind the EO's laptop and a webcam, fingerprint reader and iris scanner account for the remainder of the hardware setup. Unless, of course, you count the light bulb hanging from the ceiling and a white "roll-up" chart behind you for the "passport photo studio" effect!

Compulsory information
Name (first and last name compulsory but middle name optional), Gender (Male/Female/Transgender) and Date of Birth are the compulsory fields. Whereas postal address is also required, it's more for the sake of mailing your UID number than strictly being a proof of residence. The EO asks you for a PIN code and the city/district fields are automatically populated. The rest of the address is entered manually.

Supporting documents
The UID team acknowledges the fact that a large number of people may not have any supporting documents to prove their identity. In this case, one is allowed to bring another resident who is already in possession of an Aadhaar number to be an "introducer" by vouching for the person seeking to enroll. Of course, there is scope for fraud either with a colluding introducer or by just using fake supporting documents. However, the whole point of Aadhaar is that one can only fake one's identity once and this prevents large-scale "ghost identity" creation, which is the bane of most Indian government schemes. The great PAN (Permanent Account Number with the Income Tax department) card scam after all involved a single person creating thousands of different PAN numbers.

Photograph
A photograph is taken of the person getting enrolled, purely for the purpose of printing it out on the enrolment receipt, so that illiterate residents have some way of knowing that the receipt indeed belongs to them. Beyond that, the photograph serves no biometric or authentication purpose.

Biometrics
First there's an iris scan where you look into a binocular-like device held up to your eyes by the EO. After that it's the four fingers of each hand, followed by both thumbs (a process familiar to those entering the US) for your 10 fingerprints.

The wait
The EO makes you review the data entered one final time before giving you a laser-printed receipt. Whereas the residents of Tembhali, the "Aadhaar village", were to get their numbers today, the rest of us won't be that lucky. We'll only get to walk away with our receipts and have to wait for the actual number to be delivered by India Post!

Why 102B is not stopping at Apollo KH stop?

Thanks to Islamiah Welfare Association for their services towards local public. But, to bring the stopping at Apollo KH Hospital in Bye-Pass Road, everyone was eager to assist the IWA to bring bus stop there. Now the same general public, who’re travelling from Chennai, got tired from the nonsense reply from the bus conductors and are expecting from IWA to do something.
It is displayed on the board at the bus stop that which are the buses that will be stopping at this Apollo KH Stop. IWA have done a good job in bringing the bus stop, but there is a lot of loopholes that why a bus such as 102B is not stopping at the stop. To the interest of local people, IWA please clarify to the public whether the bus will stop or not there so as to avoid confusion / fighting with the conductor.

Highway Bus stop in Melvisharam

Highway Bus stop in Melvisharam

Being located in a stratergic location in the Chennai – Bangalore national highway, Melvisharam town enjoys to serve as a connecting point to the industries and other villages/town around it.
People feel very difficult to access bus from Arcot and Vellore bus stands to reach melvishram and its surrounding places. Moreover, there is always confusions which creates problem to travel visharam with local buses with two different bus stands in vellore. All the bus services ignores to stop in that existing Masjid-e-khizar stop.
With the rapid developments to serve people in and around Melvisharm more number of health cares like Apollo KH hospital, Sathya Dental Hospital, clinics, leading academic institutions from arts and since to engineering to women’s college, service and production industries attracts large number of people from far away locations. Since much of the buses passes through the national highway, people prefer to get down at Apollow KH Hospital stop which gives easy accesses to all the centers by means of local transportation.
It is well known that people of visharam and those who work here in visharam approached the highway and transport officials to stop the bus in that Apollo Stop. All the effort of the past went to deaf ears, no officials are interested to hear our request to have a bus stop in Melvisharam highway. When express buses itself will stop at Madhanur, Pallikonda, Natrampalli, Bargur plying on Bangalore side and Kaveeripakkan, Oocheri, Balachettipuram, Sungvachatteram, Sriperambattur on Chennai side; why can’t it serve to the needs of Third Grade Muncipality town people who are either visiting visharam or travelling out of visharam?
With turning down the repeated requests from many social service organizations of Melvisharam, Islamiah Welfare Organization plans to hold a mass rally on Monday, the 11th January 2010 to appeal the Government of Tamil Nadu and the concerned authorities to halt all kind of bus services to discharge and take-on the passegers at Apollow KH Hospital Stop. After a long silence, this initiative is energized by IWA and it will be good for all the people to unite and stand in a harmonious way and support the rally to achieve its aim in a peaceful effort.
Note: There seems to be lot of appeals made to Ministers / MLA’s / Authorities in earlier times, if anyone have informatio about this, please share it with others with your comments.

How to get a Ration Card?

A message from Aadil in the chat box brought my attention on important issues like Ration Card. I did a small search to gather information about it and landed my thoughts to explain two things: First - about ration card with its need, second - How to get the ration card……procedure to get ration card. I hope this information is helpful to our community. In case, of error, please give your valuable comment / feedback for corrections.
What is a Ration Card and why is it needed?
A Ration Card is a document issued under an order or authority of the State Government, as per the Public Distribution System, for the purchase of essential commodities from fair price shops. State Governments issue distinctive Ration Cards to Above Poverty Line, Below Poverty Line and Antyodaya families and conduct periodical review and checking of Ration Cards.
A Ration Card is a very useful document for us as it helps save money by aiding in the procurement of essential commodities at a subsidized rate. It has also become an important tool of identification now-a-days. You may need to produce a copy of your Ration Card as proof of identification when applying for other documents like Domicile Certificate, for inclusion of your name in the Electoral Rolls, etc.
For the purpose of categorization of cardholders under Public Distribution System, the Government of Tamil Nadu have prescribed two colour cards viz., Pink and Yellow. The Pink Colour cardholders will be entitled to rice and other essential commodities at prices as fixed by the Government from time to time. The Yellow Colour cardholders would draw their rations other than rice based on options. Those who opt out of rice can draw additional quantity of sugar or kerosene as the case may be, in lieu of rice at prices as fixed by the Government from time to time.
What you need to do to obtain a Ration Card
1. Get the application form from Zonal PDS Office or Download here
2. Fill the form with all the details with your passport size photograph.
3. Deposit it at in our Zonal PDS Office (Walaja) and get a form for applying the card.
